Amid the uncertainties that people face these days due to COVID-19, it is wonderful that stories of hope and kindness continue to bring us happiness. Such as this story of a teacher who went viral for giving an extra order of ‘lechon manok’ to the Grab rider who accepted her booking, only for her to discover later that he’s a single parent.
The random act of kindness surprised the Grab rider and wowed the community, with many netizens saying that stories like this continue to bring hope in these difficult times.

In a heartwarming post on Facebook, Teacher Cha Calubaquib narrated that she does not usually order food because she feels guilt over frontliners risking their lives to deliver food amid the COVID-19 crisis. But on April 13, she had the urge to get some food delivered. Netizens would later say it was a ‘whisper’ from God so she can help feed a family in need…
“Today, out of all the other days, I’ve decided to have food delivered for the second time in this quarantine. Hindi ko kasi kaya yung hiya ko na magpapadeliver ako when all these frontliners are also risking their lives just to deliver food. So, naisip ko, kung magpapadeliver ako, gusto ko mapapakain ko din yung magdedeliver the same ng oorder ko.
So, today (ulit? Haha), naisip kong magpadeliver ng Baliwag para hanggang bukas ko ng ulam. I almost didnt order kasi nung una walang nagaaccept ng order ko. So tumigil ako. Pero, inisip ko, try ko ulit kung wala talaga hindi nako magpapadeliver. Eh may tumanggap. Si kuya Andrew.
So, the moment na nabook ko siya as the rider, nagorder na talaga ako ng pang 4 (isa for me, isa for kuya, dalawa sa frontliners dito sa building ko.) Kaso walang kanin kasi di ako kumakain ng kanin ngayon (naks).
Kung alam ko lang, binilihan ko na din siya ng kanin.”

She gave instructions to the rider to have the food packed separately so she can give him one pack, get one pack for herself, and give the two packs to the frontliners at their building. The Grab rider was grateful for the free ‘lechon manok’ and happily posed for a photo though he would later regret not having a photo taken with the teacher as he thanked her for the food she gave him.

“Pagdating ni Kuya Andrew, sabi ko “Boss kain na din po kayo ah.” Sabi ni Kuya A, “sakto nga po ma’am kasi gutom na ako. Iuuwi ko na sana sa bahay namin pero may iddeliver pa po ako tapos uwi na po ako may ulam na po kami.”
