Michelle Binondo has stage 5 kidney failure. Her kidneys are no longer functioning; thus, her stomach has grown bigger because fluids are no longer drained properly out of her body. Sadly, her husband just left her. This led to her eldest child, John Prince, quitting school because there was no one else to take care of him.

According to Michelle, she has four children; John Prince is the eldest. She lost her second child while she had to give away her third child back in 2013 due to poverty and some other reasons. She gave birth to her fourth child on March 29, 2016 and had been alright at the time. But in September, her medical troubles began.

When she got diagnosed with the kidney problem, her husband just left. She narrated that her eyes would bulge each time she cried, and her stomach began to grow. People thought that she was pregnant, but the bulging tummy was due to her kidney condition.

Unable to care for herself and move around the house because she lacked strength and had breathing difficulties, Michelle had to ask Prince to quit school. He was Grade 1 at the time, but the young boy readily complied with his mother’s wishes because there really was no one else left to care for her.

While Michelle’s father was still alive, he was also sick – and there were even a lot of times when the two would quarrel because the oxygen in her tank is not enough to meet both their needs. According to Michelle, they have to go to the government hospital to ask help and request for a refill on her oxygen tank; there were even times when they had to go there at dawn because the tank is already empty.
