Two Teachers Earn Praise for Serving as Frontliners in COVID-19 Crisis

While teachers might not be the ones you would usually associate as frontliners in the COVID-19 crisis, there are actually some who do serve in the frontlines! Two public school teachers earned praise for serving as frontliners in the COVID-19 crisis.

In a Facebook page named ‘Ang Layag’, photos of a teacher serving in the frontlines were shared to honor his deed. Sir Edmon Merciales is a teacher at Cupang National High School, a public school in Antipolo City.

But because he is also n army reservist with the 405th Rizal Community Defense Center, Sir Edmon did not just stay at home like everyone else. Instead, he joined other army reservists to provide support for cops and soldiers manning the checkpoints in their city.

Sir Vicente Heguerra, best known for his nickname as ‘Sir Enteng’, of Pisipis Elementary School in Lopez East District located in Lopez, Quezon, also went viral for the same reason. Just like Sir Edmon, Sir Enteng is an army reservist.
