In this time of COVID-19 crisis, a lot of people are having a lot of difficulties, particularly with finances. It’s obviously hard to feed yourself and your family if you have no money to buy food. Thankfully, a number of companies provided special packages for their workers amid this difficult situation.

While many local government units (LGUs) focused on the marginalized members of society, particularly displaced workers in the informal sector, there are also those that provided assistance even to regular workers.
Recognizing that educators are also essential workers, Mayor Arman Dimaguila ordered the release of Php10,000 cash incentive to all teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Biñan City and TESDA-JZGMSAT Biñan. The LGU released a total amount of Php21 million to the education sector alone, through the ‘Pantawid COVID-19’ program.

In a post by the City Education Office of Biñan, Laguna, it was revealed that the ‘Pantawid COVID-19’ incentive was released simultaneously for all qualified DepEd and TESDA personnel in the city.
“Maraming maraming salamat sa inyong pagmamahal sa aming mga lahat na guro and non teaching staff. God bless and keep safe po.❤❤❤,” one netizen commented.

But while the teachers were pleased, of course, there were a number of locals who were not happy with the mayor’s move to ‘prioritize’ the teachers.
“Sana po unahin po ninyo Yun Mas nangangailangan Lalo n Yun mga walang income … At Yun mga frontliner sila po ang need NG assistance,” a netizen suggested.

Thanks to Biñan for thinking of our teachers! For sure, the LGU is also doing something for other sectors.
Wow sana po lahat ng teachers sa buong bansa mabigyan po ng ganyang incentive kc isa rin po akong teacher at breadwinner in our family at affected din po kami sa covid-19. Halos lahat po ng sector my incentive at ang teachers lang po ang wala. Malaking tulong po yan para sa amin kapag mabigyan po kami ng pagkakataon. Hindi po lahat ng teachers mayaman.
