On May 9, 2019 during 702 DZAS – FEBC Radio’s Oras na Pilipinas program, segment host Efren Pallorina inadvertently announces on air that the opening of classes for the School Year 2019-2020 has been changed to June 13, 2019. It is unknown to us where did Pallorina got his information that was written on the screen he was reading when he made the announcement but it quickly caused stir among teachers. Some got excited while others raised their eye browses on the information they just heard. The Facebook video from which the announcement has been said also went viral on several Facebook groups for teachers.
While I also got pumped up that I might have an extra week or two to beat the summer heat, I too, got skeptical on the authenticity of the news that I have heard.
A lot of teachers from different group chats on Messenger and even in Facebook groups were also quick to check the reliability and the truth behind the radio announcement but for those who are well aware, they know that that radio hosts committed a mistake, and it was clearly unintentional on his part.
Because of the blunder, 702 DZAS-FEBC Radio quickly issued an apology regarding the said matter. Here is their official statement:
naging pahayag.Maraming Salamat sa inyong pang-unawa. ka-Agapay!
Don’t get me wrong but I think we can all just move on from here. It was just Sir Pallorina’s job to read what’s on the screen and even him was surprised about what he had to announce on air.
Thanks to 702 DZAS-FEBC Radio for realizing the inaccuracy on the information that has been announced on their radio and for quickly apologizing about to their audiences especially for all the teachers, students, and other stakeholders who have watched the Facebook video or have it heard on the radio.
