2017 Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) Update as of January 21, 2019

There has been a growing clamor everywhere on when the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 will be released. And to put an end to all the hearsay and speculations, the Department of Education (DepEd) has quickly provided an update regarding the release of the 2017 PBB.

Below is the press release published at DepEd’s official website on January 23, 2019:


PASIG CITY, January 21, 2019 – The Department of Education (DepEd) notifies its school-based personnel that as of January 21, DepED Region III has started releasing the Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2017.

The Schools Division Offices (SDOs) of the National Capital Region (NCR) and Regions IV-A, XI, and XII have received their Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) from their respective Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Offices.

SAROs are also being processed by the respective DBM ROs for release to the SDOs of DepED Regions IV-B, V, and VII.

As for the remaining DepED Regional Offices, their documentary requirements are undergoing the evaluation of the DBM Central Office. Once cleared, these shall also be endorsed to the respective DBM Regional Offices for release of funds.

PBB is “a top-up incentive given to personnel of bureaus or delivery unit in accordance to their contribution to the accomplishment of their department’s overall targets and commitments.” The AO25 Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) sets specific conditions and reviews the agency’s accomplishments within a fiscal year to determine the eligibility of the department and its personnel to receive PBB.

As of writing time, several divisions have already been sharing proofs on social media about the release of 2017 PBB in their respective cities and provinces.

WHAT IS PBB?

The PBB, which is the new bonus introduced via the PBIS, will be given to employees based on their contribution to the accomplishment of their Department’s overall targets and commitments.

Under the PBB, units of Departments will be ranked according to their performance. The personnel within these units shall also be ranked. The ranking of units and personnel will be based on their actual performance at the end of the year, as measured by verifiable, observable, credible, and sustainable indicators of performance.

  1. Where there are rewards for employees there should b sanctions for top and middle management for underperformance. . Most objectives fail due to lack or absence of planning and zero leadership and when d organization s being run by IDIOTs managers!!!!
